About Meyerland

Meyerland is a deed-restricted southwest Houston subdivision with a strong civic backbone: the Meyerland Community Improvement Association (MCIA). Residents and buyers usually care about that distinction. The ZIP 77096 covers Meyerland *and* nearby southwest Houston streets, so the five-digit code alone is not the same as the subdivision.

A few names get mixed together in everyday conversation:

When you read headlines or maps, it helps to ask which Meyerland the writer means.

Meyerland sits along Brays Bayou. Flood-control work and bayou trails shape the outdoor feel of the corridor; for lot-level flood questions, use official flood-map tools and professional advice rather than a neighborhood nickname.

Things to do in and around Meyerland

  1. Brays Bayou Greenway — Meyerland sits on the Brays Bayou corridor with hike-and-bike greenway access through Houston Parks Board’s Brays Bayou Greenway (a long bayou trail system connecting greenspace across this part of Houston). Check the Parks Board page for current trail maps and segment updates before you plan a long ride.
  2. Meyerland Park (5151 Jason St) — A Houston Parks neighborhood park with open green space, playground, and tennis courts—easy for casual play and neighborhood walks.
  3. Herbert Godwin Park / Godwin Community Center (5101 Rutherglen) — Nearby community park space with playground and sports fields, a familiar gathering spot for families.
  4. Meyerland Plaza and nearby dining — Convenient shopping and restaurants next door; treat retail as a separate outing from residential civic life.
  5. Local civic lifemeyerland.net carries board news, meetings, and neighborhood updates if you want the resident-facing calendar.

Schools near Meyerland

Homes in and around Meyerland are generally in Houston ISD, but campus names that appear in market copy (for example Kolter Elementary, Meyerland Middle School, or Bellaire High School) are not automatic for every 77096 address.

  1. Enter the exact address in the HISD School Navigator.
  2. For campus reports, Texas publishes two different tools:

A School Report Card is not the same thing as an A–F rating. Look up the campus and year that match your question.

Exploring Meyerland as a place to live

Walk a bayou stretch or neighborhood park, open meyerland.net for civic rules, and run every address through School Navigator before you trust a marketing map.
