About Westbury

Westbury is a large mid-century subdivision in southwest Houston—about 5,000 single-family homes across roughly three square miles, with the broader Westbury Super Neighborhood a bit larger, according to the Westbury Civic Club. It sits only a few miles from Loop 610, with a street grid, deed restrictions, and a civic club that still publishes the Westbury Crier.

ZIPs 77035 and 77096 show up often on listings. 77096 also serves Meyerland and other nearby southwest streets, so the ZIP alone does not equal “Westbury.” City services, HOA rules, and school assignment follow the address and the subdivision—not the mail code.

Things to do in and around Westbury

  1. Willow Waterhole Greenway / Greenspace — Hundreds of acres of lakes, prairie, marsh, and trails in the Westbury backyard (just south of Meyerland)—a Harris County Flood Control detention complex with a Houston Parks and Recreation park overlay, supported by the Willow Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy. The Westbury Civic Club notes access along Ricecrest or Clematis and parking on Dryad, with room to walk, picnic, fish, and watch birds. This is not the Community Garden.
  2. Westbury Community Garden (12581 Dunlap St) — A separate ~7-acre community garden with raised beds, orchard space, learning pavilion, and gathering areas—a hands-on neighborhood landmark run with Westbury civic partners. Check the garden site for membership, classes, and visiting hours.
  3. Westbury Park and everyday greenspace — Neighborhood park space shows up in local photos and civic life; start from the civic club’s Parks information and City of Houston park resources for current access.
  4. Neighborhood calendar — The Westbury Crier and westburyhouston.com are the practical places for meetings, volunteer days, and what’s happening this month.
  5. Brays Bayou nearby outing — A short drive puts you on Brays Bayou trails for a walk or bike ride—an easy southwest Houston outing from Westbury, not part of the subdivision itself.

Schools near Westbury

Westbury homes are typically in Houston ISD, but campus assignment is still address-specific. Neither 77035 nor 77096 picks a school for you.

  1. Enter the exact address in the HISD School Navigator.
  2. For campus reports, Texas publishes two different tools:

A School Report Card is not the same thing as an A–F rating. Look up the campus and year that match your question.

Exploring Westbury as a place to live

Drive the mid-century street grid, visit Willow Waterhole or the community garden, open the civic club site for rules and the Crier, and run every address through School Navigator before you trust a marketing “zone.” For southwest Houston context, see the Houston area guide.
