Before you go: bags, lawn and parking
Bags. The Pavilion’s bag rule is strict. Any bag or purse that isn’t clear has to be smaller than 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Clear bags have to be smaller than 12 by 12 inches.
The lawn. Lawn tickets are general admission, first come, first served. You can’t bring your own lawn chair because of the slope. At most events you can rent one of the venue’s lawn chairs for $8 in advance or $10 at the venue, card only. Chair rental is free at symphony, ballet and opera events.
Rain or shine. Shows go on in the rain unless conditions turn dangerous, so check the forecast and pack a poncho if it looks wet.
Kids and ages. The Pavilion is an all-ages venue. For most concerts and performing arts events, kids 5 and under get in free on the lawn with a ticketed adult. Some performing arts nights are free for everyone with no ticket, like Holly Jolly Jingle on Dec. 3.
Tickets. Most shows use mobile tickets through Ticketmaster or the Live Nation app. Screenshots and print-at-home tickets aren’t accepted.
Parking. Free parking is in monitored lots a short walk from the venue. Lots open 30 minutes before gates, and The Pavilion tells most guests to navigate to 2203 Timberloch Place. Paid parking in the garage behind the venue is limited, card only and typically $45 for concerts or $15 for performing arts shows.
Accessibility. Drop-off is at the North Plaza, 2005 Lake Robbins Drive. Free accessible parking is first come, first served in the Gold Lot off Six Pines Drive, with overflow at 9669 Grogans Mill Road. Questions go to info@woodlandscenter.org.
A little history
The Pavilion opened in April 1990 with a Houston Symphony gala weekend. George P. Mitchell, who founded The Woodlands, and his wife Cynthia Woods Mitchell, for whom the venue is named, had planned an arts venue there since the community began in 1974. An expansion in 1995 brought capacity to about 13,000. A nonprofit, The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, owns and runs it. Profits from the big concerts help pay for its free performing arts shows.

Living near The Pavilion
The Pavilion is in the middle of The Woodlands Town Center, with office towers and other Town Center buildings around it, as the aerial photo shows. If a short drive to a big concert matters to you, homes near Town Center put you close to it. Show nights also bring extra traffic to Six Pines Drive, Lake Robbins Drive and Timberloch Place. Drive by on a concert night before you make an offer, and you’ll know what the area is like then.
Sellers near Town Center can point to The Pavilion as a nearby draw. A listing can say how far the home is from Town Center.
