Trick-or-treating in Houston: neighborhood lists, apps and what’s trending

Nextdoor Treat Map: see which homes are handing out candy

The Nextdoor Treat Map is back for its 14th year, live through Oct. 31 and sponsored by Reese’s in the U.S. In the Nextdoor app or on the web, neighbors pin homes handing out treats or showing off decorations, plus local events. New filters flag non-food treats, pet treats and early hours. Pins come from neighbors and aren’t verified by Nextdoor, so stop only at homes that opted in.

What Halloween events in Houston can show buyers and sellers

Free events in a park or plaza say a lot about how a neighborhood spends its weekends.

  • Buyers: Drive from homes on your list to places you’d use on a Saturday, like a town center plaza, park lawn or waterfront. An event-time drive shows traffic and parking better than a map estimate.
  • Sellers: If your home is a short walk from regular free events, like League Park’s music nights or CITYCENTRE’s weekend plaza sets, describe that distance accurately in your listing.
  • Sellers listing this fall: Take down Halloween decorations before listing photos so they don’t look dated by mid-November. See our seller resources.
