Weekend weather

As of Friday morning Nov. 6, the National Weather Service forecast for Houston calls for a mostly sunny Friday near 82 degrees and a mostly cloudy Saturday near 77. Galveston looks similar, sunny near 77 Friday and partly sunny near 75 Saturday. Check the National Weather Service before you head out.

What this weekend can show buyers and sellers

  • Buyers: Visit an area at the hours you’d actually live there. A Friday night at a plaza concert or a Saturday market tells you more about traffic, parking and noise than a weekday showing.
  • Buyers: Big events change commutes. Rally weekend shows how Galveston closures affect getting around.
  • Sellers: Check community calendars before you set open-house dates. A festival nearby can bring extra drive-by traffic, or make parking hard. See our seller resources.

Houston mortgage rates this week: the national number

The U.S. average 30-year fixed rate was 7.18% as of Nov. 5, 2026, down from 7.24% the week before; the 15-year was 6.57%, down from 6.60%. This is a national average; not a loan offer; talk to a licensed lender, and the Fed policy rate is not your mortgage rate. For what it means locally, read Mortgage Rates This Week: What Houston Buyers Should Know.
